World Tuberculosis Day, 2022
On Thursday, March 24, the Walter Reed Program Nigeria (WRP-N)
joined the rest of the world to commemorate this year’s World
Tuberculosis (TB) Day.

WRP-N team marks World TB Day
World TB Day is observed on March 24 every year to raise public
awareness and understanding about TB as one of the world’s deadliest
infectious killers, its devastating health, social and economic impact on
people around the world.
This year’s theme, ‘Invest to End TB. Save Lives’ focuses on the crucial
need to invest more resources in the fight to end the global epidemic.
The poignant theme also beams a searchlight on the people affected by
this disease and calls for accelerated action to end TB suffering and
deaths, especially in the midst of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
At the Walter Reed Program-Nigeria, we understand that TB is one of
the leading causes of death among People Living with HIV (PLHIV). This
is why we focus on intensifying TB case findings through the use of
modern technology, and treatment of positive cases in military barracks
and their surrounding communities.
