2017 World AIDS Day

To mark the 2017 World AIDS Day, PEPFAR in collaboration with all US Government Agencies: CDC, USAID, and USDOD WRP-N united to demonstrate its collective contribution in impacting the lives of Nigerians plagued with HIV.

This year, PEPFAR in Nigeria is celebrating its tremendous effort in reaching a million Nigerians with care and treatment of HIV!  Since 2004, PEPFAR has disbursed more than 5.1 million dollars to support the Nigerian HIV/AIDS response.  Aside, strengthening Nigeria’s health systems and human capacity development, PEPFAR has improved the quality of life of more than 770,000 people living with HIV/AIDS and provided them with HIV care and treatment services, support services including, orphans and vulnerable children support.

The USDOD WRP-N has been part of this success, contributing its efforts within the Nigerian military health sector. World AIDS Day activities continued at its various sites with road rallies and HIV sensitization programmes.  DOD WRPN has placed over 28,000 Nigerians on HIV treatment across 39 Nigerian Ministry of Defence (NMOD) supported military health facilities located across different states of the country.
